New season of Heritage Touring Cars New Zealand ahead

Heritage Touring Cars New Zealand (HTCNZ), is a celebration of the golden era of Touring Cars, showcasing iconic machines from the 1970s to the early 2000s. This diverse grid is set to thrill both drivers and spectators, as these legendary cars return to the track in a series of high-octane events.

The class brings together a spectacular array of genuine overseas and New Zealand Touring Cars, along with National Championship Vehicles, as well as meticulously crafted replicas and tribute cars. Each vehicle stays true to its era, both in appearance and performance, preserving the authenticity of motorsport’s rich history. Whether it’s the roaring V8 Commodore, the sleek Nissan Skyline GTR, or the blistering Sierra Cosworth turbo, the grid will feature the most celebrated vehicles that defined their decades.

The Cars That Defined An Era

The Heritage Touring Cars lineup includes classic Touring Cars from the following categories:

  • Group 2 ETCC (1970s)
  • Group A, Group N, and Group C (1980s)
  • BTCC Super Tourers
  • Super Production Cars
  • New Zealand Touring Cars

Fans can expect to see thrilling battles between the high-powered machines that once dominated circuits worldwide. The sound of an M3 or RX7 revving up to 10,000 RPM, alongside the thunder of a V8 Commodore, is sure to bring nostalgia and excitement to motorsport enthusiasts. These races are not just about nostalgia, though—these cars are still fast, with lap times that can compete with modern Muscle Cars and GTRNZ grids.

A Non-Contact, Respect-Driven Series

While HTCNZ offers an exhilarating spectacle, it’s also about respecting these rare machines and the drivers behind the wheel. This is a non-contact class, with all drivers and vehicles undergoing a strict review process before being accepted into the series. The emphasis is on fun, camaraderie, and providing an unforgettable experience for both participants and fans. HTCNZ ensures that everyone involved feels part of something special, fostering a community that cherishes these iconic cars.
